| At less than 6,500 yards from the rear tee, Thorny Lea is a short course by modern standards. Based on the number of excellent players at the club, The lack of length seems to have no affect on the quality of play. This course has diversity and balance. |

| How to Play It: |
| The first hole at Thorny Lea Golf Club is a slight dogleg left. The driving range is off to the left side of the fairway lined by trees. The second fairway runs adjacent to the first in the opposite direction. A long second shot is not ideal on this par 4 as you will be in deep fescue behind the first green. |
